Louisville (6-1) will hit the road on Tuesday to battle the College of Charleston (5-2) in South Carolina. The Cougars are likely to test the No. 5 Cardinals as did Illinois St this past Saturday.

Charleston, from the Southern conference, has played some tough competition early this season. Both of their losses came during a tournament they hosted, the Charleston Classic. The first loss was 53-64 to St. John’s (6-2) and dropped another the next night 51-55 to Auburn (2-5).

The Cougars revenged the back-to-back losses by knocking off Boston College (3-4) 71-67. They then defeated No. 24 Baylor 63-59 on the road. Baylor (5-2) just recently beat No. 8 UK 64-55 in Lexington to end UK’s home winning streak at 54.

Charleston’s leading scorer is Andrew Lawrence. The guard from London, England is averaging 14.0 points per game. Lawrence is nearly automatic from the free throw line at 86.7 percent and dishes out 4.3 assists per contest. Their top rebounder is 6’9″ Adjehi Baru from Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Baru’s 8.9 rebounds per game is the best in the Southern Conference.

For Louisville, Russ Smith continues to increase his average and is now contributing 19.9 points per game. Stephan Van Treese is leading the team in field goal percentage at 81.8. Van Treese logged 34 minutes off the bench against Illinois State while adding 6 points and 8 rebounds. Van Treese also came up with loose balls, deflected passes, and kept plays alive.

UofL is currently a 9.5 point favorite. The game can be seen on ESPNU at 9:00 EST.
