Charlie Strong and staff have been on the recruiting trail getting commitments from Alabama DE Finesse Middleton and Florida DT Kyle Shortridge. Middleton originally committed to Ole Miss before flipping to Louisville last week. Shortridge was a Purdue commit but opened up his recruiting when Purdue coach Danny Hope was fired.
Shortridge is ranked by Rivals as the 44th best DT in the class of 2013 and also had offers from Iowa State, Nebraska as well as Michigan State. High School teammate Rayfield Dixon a linebacker also took a visit to Louisville over the weekend. Dixon is also considering Minnesota, West Virginia and Wake Forest.
Middleton is ranked the 68th best DE and had offers from Mississippi State, Tulane and UAB before deciding on Louisville. Louisville’s move from the Big East to the ACC helped sway Middleton’s decision.
Louisville is also going to get a visit from Florida Southridge CB Lamar Robbins. Robbins is the 36th ranked CB and currently has Oklahoma listed as his leader. Robbins is the cousin of current Louisville Cardinal Andrew Johnson.
Louisville is still in the mix for highly touted WR James Quick. Quick a Louisville native (Trinity HS) was recently named Player of the Year in Kentucky. The 13th ranked WR is also considering Ohio State and Oregon.
