Red Storm Visits Louisville

St. John’s (15-9) enters the KFC Yum! Center tonight to face heavy favorite No. 12 Louisville (19-5). The Red Storm will be without head coach Steve Lavin due to the passing of his 82-year old father.

D’Angelo Harrison is the key for SJU. He is scoring a team high 18.3 points and 1.5 steals per game. He has only averaged 8.7 over his last three outing. This makes Harrison a threat against Louisville’s zone defense. Harrison is due a big game and while he only shoots 31.7 percent from three point range, he’s not shy.

The key for Louisville will be to control the backboards. The Red Storm are ranked 100th in rebounds while UofL is 43rd overall. Gorgui Dieng should be able to increase his 9.9 per game average and pull down at least 15 rebounds tonight.

Las Vegas currently has the Cardinals as 17.5 point favorites. The spread looks high against a team playing on emotions while Lavin grieves the loss of his father. If Harrison plays up to his potential, it could be a close one.
