Louisville Baseball Has Big Weekend Planned

The No. 4 Louisville (3-1) baseball team will play their first weekend series beginning Friday when they host the Akron Zips (0-3).

On Wednesday, the Cardinals played their first home of the season in the recently expanded Jim Patterson Stadium. UofL pounded 20 hits in the 17-6 victory over Eastern Kentucky (1-3). JPS now has the capacity to seat 4,000 fans.

While February doesn’t usually provide baseball friendly weather in Louisville, it appears it will be decent this weekend. On Friday the high is expected to be 58 degrees with sunny skies in the afternoon. On Saturday and Sunday it is supposed to be around 50 degrees according to The Weather Channel.

If the weather isn’t enough to get you out to the ballpark, consider UofL baseball is FREE admission all season. If you need more incentive, the Cardinals have great deals planned all weekend.

On Friday at 3:00 pm, baseball fans can take advantage of $1 beer and Pepsi products. Saturday they will offer $3 burgers fresh from the coals and $2 beer; first pitch is at 2:00 pm. When the series ends on Sunday 1:00 pm, fans can eat $1 hot dogs and run the bases after the game.

UofL is 181-70 (.721) all-time inside Jim Patterson Stadium.
