Andrew Farrell got the best of his old Louisville teammate and last year’s MLS Rookie of the Year, Austin Berry, last night at Toyota Park in Chicago. The Revolution (1-0-0) start the 2013 season off on the right foot with the victory, while the Fire (0-2-0) fall with two shutout losses early in the season.

Farrell was one of four Revolution players making their MLS debut. The win for the Revs was the first season-opening win since 2009.

The game went back and forth early. Both sides getting their chances and both goalkeepers making great saves. The lone goal of the match came in the 62nd minute. Kelyn Rowe sent a chip into the box behind the Fire defense where Jerry Bengtson finished with a header.  The Fire had multiple changes to find an equalizer in the last few minutes of the game but came up short.

The Revolution play again on Saturday, March 16th, when they travel to the Philadelphia Union. The Fire travel to Kansas City to take on Sporting KC on Saturday, March 16th, as well.
