2012 Sugar Bowl Champs Take Field Saturday

The 2012 Sugar Bowl Champs take the field for their first scrimmage game in front of fans on Saturday. The game will be a team scrimmage consisting of part of the team wearing red uniforms and they other half wearing white uniforms. This will be the first time to see this years Cardinals in action.

The Cardinals take the field after their BCS victory and an 11-2 record last season. Louisville returns many veterans from last year including the Sugar Bowl Most Valuable Player, Teddy Bridgewater.

Teddy Bridgewater looks to build on his remarkable season last year. Bridgewater threw for 3,718 yards and a 68.5% completion percentage last season. He is on the top of pre-season Heisman charts and Louisville enters their last season in the Big East.

The game will start at 1:00 and will have many festivities throughout the day. There will be a band with food starting at 9:30 in the Street Fest. From 10:00-12:30 fans will be able to get their pictures taken with the NCAA men’s National Championship trophy. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be honored at half time of the game. Dollar beers will be served during the game as well.

Coach Charlie Strong was disappointed in the attendance at last years spring game and is expecting a huge turn out at this years game. They are expecting to break the attendance in 2007 of 25,000 people.

The red/white game will start at 1:00 on Saturday and will be played at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
