Earlier yesterday, Big Red Louie had written an article saying that Louisville Junior Guard Russ Smith would be leaving for the NBA, due to an interview from Sports Illustrated with Russ Smith Sr. in which he said, concerning his son,”He’s gone.”  That, coupled with the language he used when speaking to the Cardinal Celebration Crowd yesterday let many to believe he had played his last game in a Louisville uniform.

All of that could change.  After recently appearing on ESPNU minutes ago, Coach Pitino has stated that Russ is now 60/40 in favor of staying.  It appears his father may have spoken too soon and too much for his son.  Honestly, I would love to see Russ return.  His stock isn’t looking great at the moment, so the only thing concerning him is possibly an injury (we all would hate for that to happen).  He’d definitely help the Cards in their run for another Final Four/National Title.  Especially with Harrell and Behanan down low, and Rozier/Gill to help him in the back court, and Hancock/Blackshear in a forward spot.
