Gorgui Dieng is Gone; Chane Behanan Returns

Apr 10, 2013; Louisville, KY, USA; Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware (5) shares a laugh with forward Chane Behanan (21) at the KFC YUM! Center during their celebration for winning the NCAA Men

So, another Louisville Junior with professional dreams is gone next year.  This time, it’s the 6’10″ Center Gorgui Dieng, a player who has been a defensive necessity for the Cards over the past two seasons.  After much speculation that he, like his fellow teammate and Junior Russ Smith, would be declaring for the NBA Draft following this year’s national championship.  In a recent interview with CBS’ college basketball writer Jeff Goodman, Coach Pitino confirmed that Gorgui Dieng would definitely be leaving for the NBA.  Best of luck to Dieng…most mock drafts have him going late-first round.

Some good news in all of this though is that forward Chane Behanan will return for his junior season.  Behanan proved himself all year and especially in the Final Four that he is a player that isn’t afraid to go down low, take the hits, and put up the shots.  Very very very excited to have this skilled player returning.  Even better, Behanan confirmed this news via his Instagram account:  Embedded image permalink
