Well, after the three excruciatingly long days that is the NFL Draft, there were no Cardinals that had been drafted by a team. None. Despite the countless projections of players such as Mario Benavides and Adrian Bushell being taken in the late draft rounds, their names were never called. This obviously came as a big surprise to many Cardinals fans, and knowledgeable draft experts as well. Many viewed picking one of these players as a late-round steal and that whomever took them would be getting away with highway robbery. Yet, as it turns out, nobody felt like they were willing to take the chance and pick them. So, as most players who don’t get picked in the draft do, they were waiting around for free agency-a time when good things can come for players simply because they can pick which teams they’d like to go to!
So, around late-afternoon time today, we received word that THREE former Louisville Cardinals Football players had been signed into free agency by NFL Teams. Those three players were Adrian Bushell, who signed with the Oakland Raiders; Mario Benavides, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs; and Alex Kupper, who snagged a deal with the Houston Texans.
All three players look to have so much potential and if given the chance, can really wow a lot of people that doubted them and decided to pass on picking them up. The player I think has the most potential from this year’s class is Bushell. He’s got so much speed and such that he will be able to easily keep up with most NFL wide receivers. In all, I think people had better not get used to seeing no Louisville players getting drafted. In the coming seasons, Louisville WILL change that due to all of the great players and recruits that Coach Strong is bringing in.
Just to get you pumped for next season and next year’s draft:
