Louisville Cardinals Breakin' School Baseball Records

Eight complete games this season.  Eight.  That’s a new school record for the Cards that was made tonight following a 4-0 shutout of the EKU Colonels.  It surpassed the record of seven, which was set by the 2007 Louisville squad.  The pitcher that sent them over the edge to eight was Kyle Funkhouser, a freshman rightie who earned his third win of the season today.  He’s the first Cards pitcher to pitch a complete game shutout in over three years.

Tonight was typical of what we’ve seen from Louisville as of late-they’ve been having runs galore and have been playing mistake-free.  It’s been five+ games without an error for the Cards, and they’re now one win shy of matching their season-high win streak of nine this season.  Tomorrow, the Cards will play the Hoosiers in their fifth game in six days.  Hopefully, fatigue will not be a factor as Louisville will try to win that ninth consecutive game.  It’s Cancer Awareness Night at Jim Patterson Stadium and the No. 14 Hoosiers will not be a tough out (terrible pun intended).  Remember to go out and support your Cards tomorrow!  Tickets and parking are always free!
