Louisville Softball Beats IPFW In NCAA Regionals

Man oh man was that a close game.  Sheer nail-biter.  Louisville beat IPFW 2-1 tonight in a game that was close right down to the final out.  After tonight’s win against the Mastodons and UAB’s win over UCLA, the Cardinals’ will face UAB tomorrow at 2 pm.  That game could very well determine who will win this double-elimination regional.

Anyways, tonight’s game started very slow.  No team had a hit until the fourth inning, even then it wasn’t exactly a hit parade.  Louisville, as well as IPFW, stranded many runners on base throughout the night.  What proved most disastrous for the Mastodons though, is that they left the bases loaded when the third out was made in the seventh.  Bousquet’s groundout (she was the only player with an RBI for the Mastodons; it came from a homer) proved to be the end for IPFW.  IPFW will play 12-time NCAA champion UCLA tomorrow in a game where one of the teams will be sent home.

Now, UAB was the underdog in today’s game, so it definitely bodes well for UofL that they’re playing the Blazers over the Bruins.  Although, Louisville can’t overlook UAB or else they may just lose in the regional round for another year.  Anyways, 2 o’clock tomorrow.  Go Cards.

P.S. the UofL-Pitt Baseball game will be on ESPNU tomorrow at noon.
