Montrezl Harrell Performing Well in the U-19 Games

Throughout the summer, the World U-19 Games have been going on, pitting the world’s best under-19 basketball players against each other.  As of now, the United States is still 5-0, and will face a fellow undefeated country, Serbia, later today.  The only other 5-0 team besides those two is Spain.

As most all of you Louisville fans know, Louisville F/C Montrezl Harrell is on the USA U-19 roster this year, and has been performing well for the United States.  Below are his stats for the first five games:

6/27:  USA 88, Ivory Coast 29

  • Harrell:  6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 50% shooting

6/28:  USA 113, China 57

  • Harrell:  8 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 2 steals, 57% shooting

6/29:  USA 115, Russia 47

  • Harrell:  13 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 100% shooting from the floor

7/1:  USA 91, Brazil 66

  • Harrell:  8 points, 1 rebound, 1 block, 43% shooting

7/2:  USA 94, Australia 51

  • Harrell:  13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, 50% shooting

As you can tell, the United States have been crushing every team in their path.  Serbia may be undefeated, but they won’t be a challenge.  They have beaten many teams the US has, but by smaller margins, like beating China by 26 instead of 56, or beating Russia by 14 instead of 68.  It should be just another win for the United States, barring any meltdowns or hiccups.  Go Harrell.  Go USA.
