Siva Solid in Summer League Start

Today was the first game of the Pistons’ Summer League play, and newly-drafted point guard Peyton Siva earned the start for Detroit.  For those who watched the game on NBATV, you were able to see a quality performance given by the former Louisville frontcourt star.

Siva played for over half the game, and was able to score six points on 6 made free throws, and going 0-2 from the field.  While he wasn’t able to provide many points, he was able to make sure his teammates were, by dishing out six assists.  Honestly, he should have had many more than six, but some teammates were unable to hit open shots, which obviously damaged his assist total.  He was also able to pull down four rebounds, which is great for someone of his size.

Overall, he was typical Siva.  Not much of a scorer, but able to dish it out to teammates.  He’s also showing he has improved his game and intangibles, as he had a plus/minus ratio of +6 and turned the ball over only once.

Detroit plays the Celtics tomorrow at 3, where it is somewhat unknown who Siva will match up against, as Celtics Summer League starter Nolan Smith was injured in today’s game after suffering what appeared to be a tear below his calf; this is an injury that will sideline him for the rest of the summer.
