Yesterday, it became known that the insurance company Northwestern Mutual had purchased the court used for the 2013 Final Four and had donated it to the University of Louisville.
It was later announced that Louisville would be auctioning off parts of the court for charity, more specifically to the Kosair Children’s Hospital to help fight pediatric cancer. More information is to be known in a press conference later today.
No doubt these are going to be expensive collector’s items, but it’s going to a great cause that will use every penny to fight something so horrible as pediatric cancer.
UPDATE: PHOTOS ARE NOW HERE OF WHAT THE PIECES WILL LOOK LIKE:

This was done last year by Northwestern Mutual when UK won the national title. The ensuing auction brought in $200,000 that was divided 50/50 between Kosair Children’s Hospital and Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
Below is a video from Northwestern Mutual regarding last year’s auction.
