Earlier today, I had a piece telling you about Northwestern Mutual buying the 2013 Final Four floor and donating it to the University of Louisville. Since then, a press conference has been held, giving us more details on the auction.
The floor has been cut up into 1,000 various sizes, each of which will be signed by Coach Pitino. The smallest sizes are available for less than $100, so they’re not outrageously expensive. I can’t even begin to imagine what some pieces are worth. But in the end, it’s all worth it as all the proceeds are going to help in the fight against pediatric cancer.
Even better is that the center of the court will not be sold. No, the 24′ x 28′ piece in the center that weighs about 6,000 lbs will be hung in the Yum! Center. It’s really going to be a unique piece of Cardinals history. Unique in the fact that how many other teams have courts hanging in their rafters?
Fans will be able to purchase pieces of 2013 Final Floor court to benefit pediatric cancer research. Details later pic.twitter.com/JuSLtAitJl
