Today, the preseason watch lists for the two kicker awards were released. Louisville didn’t have anyone on the Ray Guy Award List, which is the award for the best punter, but they did have a player on the Lou Groza Award watch list, which is the award for best collegiate place kicker.
Congrats to @johnwallace45 on being named to the preseason Lou Groza Award Watch List.

The Louisville kicker on the list was none other than John Wallace. Wallace, the sophomore kicker at Louisville, put together a spectacular season last year, going 14/14 from within 40 yards. The longest field goal he made for the year was at 45 yards, and he went 2/6 from 40-49 yards. I’ll take that from a freshman any day. He can only get better, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up winning or being a finalist for this award in the coming years.
