Preston Brown Named to Two Preseason Watchlists

In no surprise to anyone who closely follows Louisville Football, Louisville linebacker Preston Brown has been named to two preseason college football award watchlists.  The two awards are both quite prestigious.

The first award watchlist that Brown was named to is the Butkus Award watchlist.  The Butkus Award is a unique one, as it is handed out at professional, collegiate, and high school levels to the best linebacker in the country.  The current holder of the award at the collegiate level is former Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o.  The full watchlist can be found here.

The second watchlist that Brown was named to is the Rotary Lombardi Award watchlist.  The Lombardi Award is handed out to the best collegiate linebacker or lineman.  The current holder of this award is none other than Manti Te’o.

Brown is coming off of a fantastic junior season, one in which he totaled 100 tackles and one interception, including a 17-tackle game against South Florida.  Next season is going to be great for Brown, and he’s going to be lighting it up defensively.
