The eighth ranked Louisville Cardinals (5-0, 1-0 AAC) host the Rutgers Knights (4-1, 1-0 AAC) tonight for their second American Athletic Conference (AAC) game.
Rutgers Sophomore running back, Paul James, leads the league in rushing with 573 yards, averaging 143 yards a game, leads the league in all purpose yards with a total of 638, and is second in total touchdowns with six.
The Louisville defense leads the league in defense, only allowing 398 rush yards and only four touchdowns in five games.
Something has to give between Rutger’s rushing game and Louisville’s defense.
Every Louisville fan remembers the Louisville, Rutgers game from last year. Teddy Bridgewater coming off the bench with a fractured wrist and hobbling around on a sprained ankle. The Cards came out victorious, 20-17, pushing the Louisville into the Sugar Bowl instead of the Knights. Brings a tear to your eye doesn’t it?
The game last year made the nation aware of the name Teddy Bridgewater and was his first display on national TV of what he can do. Now everyone knows Bridgewater and expects him to do well with the Heisman campaign following him every game.
Tonight’s game is just as important for both teams. The Knights will be seeking revenge of the Cards and the winner of this game is likely to will the AAC and go to a bowl game.
The rivalry game kicks off tonight inside Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium at 7:30, televised nationally on ESPN. Louisville is a 19 point favorite heading into kick off.
