After its most lopsided victory of the year against Rutgers on Sunday, a 102-54 thrashing, the Louisville Cardinals were rewarded with 5th place in the USA Today Coaches Poll. That’s 3 spots better than they were last and they also moved up 2 spots to 11th in the AP Poll.

The Bearded Cards have a huge week this week with South Florida on Tuesday and at Cincinnati on Saturday. This week will not only have major ranking implication, but more importantly major seeding implications. With a 37 RPI ranking and a projected 6 seed in ESPN’s latest Bracketology, Louisville desperately needs a big Top 25 win to help get them in a better position come tournament time and Saturday at Cincinnati is just the game they need.
