Bobby Petrino's Arrival: Whats it mean?

Bobby Petrino: what’s his arrival mean?

When you think about all the coaches to walk the sideline at the University of Louisville, one name that has always brought the most fear to players as well as opponents is Bobby Petrino. Coach Petrino rules with an iron fist and discipline, say what you want about his personal life and mistakes in his past, but nobody can argue with his player’s success on the field and at the next level. I once read an article about how the aura of the program changed once Coach Petrino left and Coach Krag replaced him. It was said that players would straighten up and be on their best behavior whenever Petrino would walk into the room, that all changed once Coach Krag arrived, and players would continue to behave in whatever matter they wanted with no respect for Coach Krag.

I am a firm believer that in college, the best results are achieved by coaches who are strong disciplinarians, Coach Strong as well as Coach Schnellenberger were strong disciplinarians and had a very similar presence as Coach Petrino, their players respect them and know what is expected of them on and off the field. Success in football is based on strong fundamentals and discipline, being a team that does not hurt yourself with costly mistakes is a key to on the field performance. One thing you can guarantee under Coach Petrino similar to Coach Strong is disciplined teams that place a premium on mistake free football.

Coach Petrino will also bring something back to the program that fans around here love, from basketball to football in this state we love an explosive offense. We also have a good appreciation for defense but an explosive offense is something that just makes the fans giddy like a kid on Christmas. Some of the most exciting games in Cardinal Football history were when our teams had an exciting offense and the scoreboard would light up. I always believed in judging a coach on his time in a position and Coach Petrino might have some flaws personally and is working to change but his product on the field has always been one of the best in college football. I think you will see a big difference in Louisville Football this year in the stands, the addition of a new schedule in a new league, with a new coach should come with a new atmosphere. Cardinal Fans it is time to Rock the Oven on a weekly basis.
