Hats Off to Kentucky and Cal's Off to the Lakers

So I feel that before tonight’s NCAA Championship we at BigRedLouie need to give some credit where credit is due. Kentucky has made a turn around that nearly no one saw coming, including many UK fans. Whether it was the tweak, maturity, or actually passing the ball, they have none the less been on a roll like no other. It kind of reminds me of UCONN’s run with Kemba Walker only much more dramatic. And as tore up as I was over the end of the recent Cardinal Era, I got to hand to Calipari and his merry band of freshman. I hate the one and done rule just as much as the next guy, but Coach Cal has proven that his 2012 team may not be a fluke. These 3 pointers that Harrison has made in the last three games have been nothing short of epic, and while we may not celebrate it we have to respect it. I for one hope they win tonight and keep the title in the state. I also feel like I’d rather lose to the Champions then know that we demolished the Champions three times this season.

Now to the breaking news. Within the last hour, Rex Chapman tweeted this:

This has not been confirmed by any of the major players, but Rex is a solid source for both Kentucky and the NBA. If this story is true the question now is why would Rex Champman drop this bomb right before the game? I mean, its not going to have a bearing on tonight because all of the players (and now possibly the coach) are going to the NBA next season anyway. This reminds me of finding out John L. Smith was leaving at halftime of a bowl game, only this is the National Championship!

This is going to make tonight’s game even more intriguing and I’ll leave you with this thought. Remember what happened the last two times Cal left a program? Hope they wrote these records down in pencil!
