Our Throwback Thursday takes us all the way back to 2011 when the Marshall Thundering Herd came into Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium to play the Louisville football team.

In 2011, the Louisville football team and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater entered week four of the college football season with a 2-1 record. The Cardinals were coming off wins against Murray State 21-9 and Kentucky 24-17 before they welcomed the Marshall Thundering Herd into Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium.

Unlike the result that will certainly happen on Saturday, the Thundering Herd beat the Cardinals on their way to a 7-6 season and a Beef O Brady’s Bowl victory.

This was not a good day for Teddy Bridgewater and the Louisville football team. It was his first start for the Cardinals and did not end up the way that everyone hoped as he turned the football over two times off of interceptions. The good news for Louisville is that he picked his game up mightily through the rest of his NCAA career.

ESPN had this to say in their game-recap of the contest between the Cardinals and Thundering Herd:

"“Rakeem Cato’s 4-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Crawford put Marshall ahead with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter and the Thundering Herd held on to beat Louisville 17-13 on Saturday.Omar Brown helped seal the victory with an interception of Teddy Bridgewater’s pass on the second play of the ensuing drive. The ball was tipped in the air by teammate Darryl Roberts and Brown dove forward along the sideline, cradling the ball against his chest before it reached the ground”"

Louisville football fans shouldn’t worry because this will not be the outcome of Saturday’s game between the two schools. Lamar Jackson is at a different level right now than anyone in college football and is sure to light up the scoreboard in West Virginia this weekend.
