Scott Satterfield and the Louisville football program currently have a four star offensive lineman on campus whose name might ring a bell.

Yesterday Presley Meyer wrote about the Louisville football program working on the recruiting class of 2020, but needing a little more time to get a commitment from that start player. While no commitment date is set as of yet, the Cardinals are getting a visit from a player who could fit that bill. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s got family ties to the program.

Marcus Dumervil, the younger brother of current Louisville football sophomore Dejmi Dumervil-Jean and the nephew of all time great Elvis Dumervil, is currently on campus for an unofficial visit.

Much like his brother, Dumervil is a highly regarded recruit out of St. Thomas Aquinas high school in Miami, the same place where Louisville has brought in several players from the last couple of seasons.

While Dejmi was considered a highly rated three star, his weight and lack of speed caused a lot of teams to back off. That isn’t going to be the case with Marcus.

Heading into his senior year the 6’5, 300 pound offensive tackle currently holds offers from just about every major SEC and ACC program including Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Miami, Florida State, and plenty of others. The fact that Scott Satterfield and his staff are getting a player with these type of offers on campus is a huge win.

Dumervil has been one of the biggest risers at the offensive line position over the last six months, and has shown that when he gets on campus, where ever he ends up, that he’ll have a chance to compete at a starting spot right away. Speaking on Dumervil, 247 Sports’ Charles Power said:

"“The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder used his long arms and reach to slow down edge rushers for most of the day, winning the majority of his reps. Even when beat off the ball, Dumervil was able to slow down pass rushers and used his long arms to allow a chance to regain his feet in the middle of his pass set.”"

That’s great news for Louisville and Dwayne Ledford, who though they brought in several offensive line commits in the 2019 class, will need some star power on the offensive line. The recruiting pitch for the staff to Dumervil will likely all center around the ability to play a high amount of snaps from day one.

Getting the four star Miami product to the Ville won’t be easy. Dumervil has already taken official visits to LSU and Oklahoma, while unofficially visiting Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Miami. His connection to the program will without a question be a huge part of his recruitment, but I can’t imagine it will be the deciding.

Should he chose to commit, Satterfield and company would have their headline player, as Dumervil is currently listed as the 134th best player in the country, 12th best offensive tackle, and the 20th best player in the state of Florida by 247 Sports.

The crystal ball might lean towards Oklahoma and Miami, but don’t be surprised to see the Cards begin to get more love if all goes well this weekend.

This is certainly a prospect and a decision to keep an eye on.
