It’s been a busy few days for Louisville football.

As if Louisville football kicking off fall camp in the middle of a global pandemic wasn’t already crazy enough, the change in landscape of the 2020 college football season and the future of collegiate athletics in general over the last 24 to 48 hours are almost to the point of being indescribable.

Following an oddly timed decision to cancel fall sports, including football, the MAC (yes, the MAC) seemingly became the Rudy Gobert of college sports, as that led to report after report of the Power 5 conferences meeting to cancel football.

Keep in mind, this is just days after the ACC, Big Ten, and SEC all greased up the pomp and circumstance mobile to release their “new” schedules, pointing to all things being a go for the football season. Then to days later renege on their original decision and contemplate whether to shut the entire thing down or look at a solution in the spring.

In all of that craziness, Scott Satterfield and the Louisville football program took the field for the first time as a team since the abbreviated spring practices – officially kicking off fall camp. Expectations are high for the Cards this year with Micale Cunningham, Javian Hawkins, and Tutu Atwell all returning along with a number of high-powered offensive and defensive weapons which makes this time on the field valuable.

Whether or not they’ll get to stay on the field remains to be seen and at the pace things have changed recently, it wouldn’t be surprising for news to break before this article is even released. Louisville’s players have been vocal about wanting to play, spearheading a movement among college football players who want to play the football season, pandemic or not.

Week one was crazy, but in the midst of all of it there was quite a bit to glean about the Cards. Check it out.
