Louisville Basketball shows toughness, but can’t get it done vs UNC

B-. CC had some success getting to the basket, but he just didn’t do it enough. Missing wide open shots doesn’t look good either. But he did have 7 assists and was, as always, a poised floor general.. PG. Louisville Cardinals. CHRISTEN CUNNINGHAM

DWAYNE SUTTON. B. Sutton found his range tonight, and seemed like the only Card who was able to knock down any 3’s. 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists isn’t a bad night for him. If he’s got his groove back, it’ll be great for Louisville going into the Big Dance.. SF. Louisville Cardinals
C+. Nwora only finished with 7 and 2, well below expectations. He also turned the ball over and forced shots. If this team is going to perform well, they need their most talented player to be consistent.. PF. Louisville Cardinals. JORDAN NWORA
Steve hit a couple nice buckets including a 3 when we were on one of our runs. But he got lost on defense way too much and didn’t seem to be giving maximum effort. We need consistency from the big man.. C. Louisville Cardinals. STEVEN ENOCH. C+
A-. I was debating on making this a B+, but VJ put the most effort into this game out of everyone on the team and it showed. He can finally be on the floor without being a liability, and his confidence continuing to grow could be huge moving forward.. SF. Louisville Cardinals. V.J. KING
Malik forced some things on offense, but once again was tenacious on the defensive end and had another double double. His contributions and consistent toughness really help this team. I’m still hoping he can improve his post game though.. PF. Louisville Cardinals. MALIK WILLIAMS. A-
C. Ryan was just really off tonight. He’s one of the guys we tell to keep shooting… But besides his misses, he looked kind of lost out there even when he was dribbling the ball. Almost like he was dribbling to not turn it over instead of looking to make plays.. PG. Louisville Cardinals. RYAN MCMAHON
DARIUS PERRY. B+. Darius again showed growing maturity and poise at the point guard position. He finished with 10 points and played good defense. The biggest improvement is still him looking like a serviceable backup point guard at a time when we really need him.. PG. Louisville Cardinals
The gauntlet of the ACC really put the Cards through the ringer. To come out with 10 wins in conference and 20 overall? Pretty darn good. Well above expectations. Louisville wasn’t favored vs the Heels, so as I said before, this loss doesn’t really hurt us.As conference tournaments begin to finish up, brackets will soon be ready to fill out. There’s a good chance Louisville gets a favorable draw, but only time will tell.

Everyone is 0-0 in the tournament. If Louisville brings their confidence and toughness with them to the Dance, who’s to say this team can’t make a run? This season has been fun, and we get to keep enjoying it for at least one more game. Remember this team wasn’t even supposed to be here, and as always Go Cards.
