Louisville basketball guard Darius Perry has looked solid running the point guard position early in this season. We look at a few ways that he could level-up his game as the 2019-20 campaign progresses.
I went to see Darius Pery play in the Derby City Classic when he was a senior in high school back a few years. I remember telling all of my buddies post-game about how well I thought he controlled the pace in the open floor and how one day he’d be a great point guard for the Louisville basketball program.
Louisville fans got a sample dose of that player in Sunday’s 78-55 whipping of Youngstown State, but my guess is we have only witnessed the surface scratchings of what all Perry can do with the ball.
Before I begin, I have some good news. One of the goals I am NOT assigning Darius is defense. He is an absolute bloodhound on d, especially guarding the ball.
Since the Derby City Classic, we have all seen Perry have his ups and downs, ranging from his turnover city ribbon-cutting ceremonies to him hurdling a grown man to win a dunk contest (got that one on video). I think we all root for him, we all want the best for him, and we thought at times he has driven us up the wall with his wildness, I think his wildness is a big part of the reason we love him.
Here we break it all down for you. What can Darius Perry work on this season to vault him into becoming the complete player we all know he can be?
