Stats don’t lie: Louisville basketball one of five teams capable of winning it all
Kansas
Adjusted offensive efficiency: 10
Adjusted defensive efficiency: 3
Through all of the drama and controversy in Lawrence, one thing still remains: Kansas is really stinking good.
If there is a team that is consistent on both ends of the floor, it is this Jayhawks squad.
Kansas boasts wins over Dayton, Colorada, and West Virginia, and their only losses to date are to schools currently ranked in the top 13 in the nation.
They are led by sophomore guard Devon Dotson and Ochai Agbaji, who dish out over 28 points and six assists collectively for the Jayhawks this season.
However, the real difference-maker for the Jayhawks has been the return of senior center Udoka Azubuike. The 7-foot big man from Nigeria is averaging a half rebound shy of a double-double in only 28 minutes per game and has been a real problem for opponents on both sides of the ball.
Overall, Kansas ranks in the top 20 in the nation in blocked shots, and in the top 60 in steals.
Between their defense, which allows only 61 points per game, and excellent offense around the basket (54 percent from 2-point range), the Jayhawks are built to make a deep run in March.
If there is one weakness of this team, it has to be their potency behind the arc. The Jayhawks are in the bottom third of Division I teams in three-point attempts, and perhaps they are reluctant to shoot them because they only make them at a 34 percent rate.
Still, it’s hard to deny that if Kansas remains healthy, they are one of the teams to beat in March.
