3. Indiana

While Louisville football and Indiana have three dates scheduled in 2023, 2024, and 2025, I’m not sure there’s a Cardinals fan out there that wouldn’t love to see a match-up with the Hoosiers as early as this year.

A match-up with IU on the gridiron isn’t as sexy as some other options, it would be a contest with local flavor and a lot of regional rooting interest. There are plenty of Hoosiers who make their way into the Louisville area every day for work or otherwise and vice versa for Louisvillians. Along the way, Cardinals and Hoosiers fans interesect on a basis almost as often as with Kentucky fans.

A rivalry has never gained traction between the two schools on the football field, but the Hoosiers have been solid enough in recent years that this would be a legitimate challenge on the schedule.

Louisville and Indiana have only played twice in the history of the two programs- Both Indiana victories in 1985 and 1986.

IU, who is coming off a narrow bowl loss to Tennessee in the Gator Bowl figures to field another bowl-caliber team this season.
