5 takeaways from Louisville football’s win over Western Kentucky
Micale Cunningham is a legit big time talent
There was plenty of optimism heading into year two with Micale Cunningham fully at the helm in the Scott Satterfield offense. I am not sure anyone could have projected this kind of trajectory of development early on in his redshirt sophomore season.
Cunningham is good. Scary good. So good, in fact, that I would argue that Louisville fans should start to think about envisioning a world where in which there is a new quarterback at the helm in 2021. He is likely going to push himself draft boards and NFL draft media analysts are taking notice.
To the naked eye, Cunningham throws a beautiful deep ball and he can really sling it down the field. While the receivers made some excellent plays on the football, Cunningham was dropping dimes all night and despite a couple shotty plays, he showed off his improved decision making and trust in his arm as a passing quarterback.
You can see the leadership role that Micale Cunningham has inherited after being the unquestioned starter heading into this year. He is a tough cookie that has taken some nasty hits at times over the past season and in this week’s game. He is a leader on the team that never loses his cool in any situation.
Cunningham finished the night 19/34 for 343 yards (a career high) as well as three passing touchdowns through the air; he also added a rushing touchdown to his stats. Cunningham proved he was human and did throw one interception on a 4th down play in the second half.
