We take a look at the last time that these two ACC football teams met, which resulted in a 20-13 victory because of Lamar Jackson.
Lamar Jackson got the Louisville football team off to a great start and the Cards never looked back as they handed the Wolfpack their first loss of the 2015 season. After four straight wins against Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Old Dominion, and South Alabama, NC State wasn’t able to pull off the win against the Cardinals at home on October 3rd, 2015.
It was a huge win for the Cardinals as they were able to avoid going 1-4 on the season. In hindsight, it was huge in terms of Louisville finding their groove in their 2015 ACC schedule. They went on to win four out of their next six conference games, ending the season with a Music City Bowl win and an 8-5 record.
Here is a recap of the game from ESPN:
"“Meanwhile, Jackson completed just 10 of 27 passes but the Cardinals finished with 203 yards rushing against the nation’s No. 3-ranked total defense (205.8 yards). The highlight came when Jackson cut past a defender and broke away for the long TD on Louisville’s third possession, which helped him set the program’s single-season rushing mark for a quarterback after just five games.“I had to do whatever to get my team to win,” he said. “That’s all I’ve been doing.”Louisville started 0-3 before last week’s romp against Samford, with Jackson setting a school record for rushing yards (184) by a quarterback. Now the Cardinals have won two straight to build some momentum.”"
Louisville now turns their focus to a 2016 NC State football team who is currently holds the best rushing defense in the ACC. Some might say that Louisville can run the football like no other team in the country.
It looks like it ‘s going to be strength against strength.
