With the 2019 recruiting class behind them, Scott Satterfield and the Louisville football staff wasted no time getting their first commitment for 2020. Friday evening the Cards received a verbal pledge from Safety Ronald Delancy.

The Louisville football staff is off to a encouraging start in the 2020 class as they’re in really good shape with some talented prospects. One of those prospects gave his verbal commitment to the Cards staff Friday evening and hails from a very familiar high school.

Ronald Delancy, a talented Safety from the “305” plays for Miami Northwestern High School. For Cards Fans, that school should ring a bell as the school has produced some memorable and talented former Cards. Michaelee Harris, Corvin Lamb, Jermaine Reve, Eli Rogers, Cardinal legend Teddy Bridgewater and, most recently, Tutu Atwell all came out of Miami Northwestern High School.

Delancy wanting to grow that list of Northwestern players to go from the 305 to the 502 gave Scott Satterfield and the UofL staff his verbal commitment.

Delancy, at safety, is a player when you flip on the tape, you really like what you see. He appears to give maximum effort every play, displays toughness and possess nice football instincts. Add in his ability to break on the ball, he shows a real nose for the ball and will put his helmet in there to make a play. Whether exhibiting the capacity to play centerfielder in safety high coverage, man press coverage, or up in the box for run support; when given the opportunity, Delancy just seems to make plays.

Really an inarguable fact, anytime the Cards football program has had success, it by no coincidence has had a direct correlation to the number of the Cards roster having a heavy presence from the Sunshine state. In the past, the Sunshine state has been good to the Cards. If Delancy’s commitment is any indication, the 2020 class will get back to infusing the Cards roster with those from the Sunshine state of Florida.

With QBs coach Frank Ponce’s recruiting connections in South Florida, DLs coach Mark Ivey’s recruiting connections from North Florida to Orlando and Co-DC/LBs coach Cort Dennison ability to attract top flight talent, look for the Cardinals 2020 recruiting class to make a big splash in a major way!  Current and former Cards are noticing, and you should too!
