Holgorsen Trying to Become Kingpin

As I flip between games on this Saturday, I find myself watching West Virginia as they host Marshall. The Mountaineers look to be by far the better team and they are not even hitting on all cylinders which is bad news for the Thundering Herd. I would expect WVU to continue to pull away in the second-half and win big.

However, it’s not the play of WVU that is keeping me tuned in. Every time the Fox Sports camera shows WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen, I think “Roy Munson.” Woody Harrelson played Roy Munson in the movie Kingpin. Maybe it is just me, but Holgorsen reminds me of Munson.

Holgorsen definitely needs to cover up his comb-over hair-do with a hat. If he was my coach I wouldn’t hear a word he was saying because I’d be distracted by his greasy flying in the wind hair strands.  In Kingpin, Munson liked to consume the alcoholic beverages as does Holgorsen. Holgorsen was allegedly involved in 6 separate alcohol related incidents. Apparently, he likes to drink in casinos, hotel bars, and golf courses. Reports claim he gets rowdy and eventually is asked to leave and never come back.

WVU is aware of Holgorsen’s liking of booze, but decided to give him a new six-year contract back in August. The new deal will pay Munson, I mean Holgorsen, $2.3 million this season. What is interesting is a clause in the contract that states he can fired if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony involving “moral turpitude”, a plea of no contest, or if he is involved in habitual drunkenness or substance abuse. I’m not sure how long he’ll last because he looks like he had an all night binge-fest as I type.

Munson was a bowling prodigy and Holgorsen can become one with a successful season. WVU is currently No. 11 in the AP Poll. This is the highest preseason ranking for the couch burners in school history. Don’t be surprised if the WVU faithful get munsoned by Holgorsen sooner rather than later.
