Former Louisville Cardinal and current Cincinnati Reds outfielder Adam Duvall loses in the semifinals of the 2016 Home Run Derby.

Former Louisville Cardinal and current Cincinnati Reds outfielder Adam Duvall loses to defending champion Todd Frazier in the semi-finals of the 2016 Home Run Derby. It was a great effort from Duvall as he hit 15 home runs, coming up just shy of the final round.

Duvall was able to beat San Diego Padre outfielder, Will Myers in the first round of this year’s derby. Normally the home team’s hitter does extremely well with the fans having their back and being familiar with the distance of the fences.

Even though the commentators at ESPN found ways to “dumb-down” the strength and power of Duvall, he was clearly one of the top hitters in this year’s derby. He may play in a small park like the Reds have in Great American Ballpark, but he showed up in a big way in San Diego. Everyone around Major League Baseball cannot look past Adam Duvall anymore.

For the rest of the season, Duvall will still be the go-to player for the Reds and one of the best hitters in the National League Central. His stats have been off-the-charts this year and is in prime position to have the best season we have seen from a former Cardinal in a long, long time.

Duvall represented the University of Louisville well and Cardinal fans should be proud. He was the first Louisville player to ever be in the Home Run Derby and showed his power on a National stage.
