At number one, here is the best player in the entire country. Deshaun Watson has always been a guy that people have spoken about being one of the elite quarterbacks at every level. Last season, Watson made true on those expectations and took the Tigers to the National Championship. They unfortunately lost to Alabama, but that doesn’t hinder the Tiger’s expectations in 2016.

Watson was also a Heisman trophy finalist last season, as he ended up coming just short in that as well.

In last season’s 20-17 victory over the Louisville Cardinals, Watson struggled as Louisville forced him into two interceptions and only throwing for 199 yards. That was pretty out of character for Watson, as he was one of the best players in college football through the entirety of the 2015 season.

If Louisville wants a shot at beating Clemson, they are going to have to go through Deshaun Watson.

Here are some of the accolades Watson received in 2015, according to Clemson Athletic’s website:

  • ACC Player-of-the-Year
  • ACC Offensive Player-of-the-Year (media, coaches)
  • First-team All-ACC (media, coaches)
  • ACC Championship Game Most Valuable Player
  • Capital One Orange Bowl Offensive Most Valuable Player
