Which former Louisville football players should you be paying attention to in 2016?

The NFL preseason is about to get underway and it’s officially football time for the rest of the year. Thank heavens; it’s been a long six or seven months since the Super Bowl and Louisville football. The University of Louisville has been sending players into the NFL like crazy over the past five years.

Very soon, it’s going to be hard to find an NFL team that does not have a former Cardinal on their roster. For those of you who prefer College Football to the NFL, this article is for you. On Sundays when you are celebrating another Cardinal victory, this guide will give you five players to specifically watch for in the 2016 NFL season.

This is not a power ranking of players in an order of being the best; rather it is a guide to who you should watch for this upcoming season. Louisville has some great players currently in the National Football League and the list keeps growing.

Louisville has done an amazing job of producing the right type of players to fit in the professional game. The attitude, toughness, grit and competitiveness has proven to take former Louisville players to different heights in the NFL.

Players like Deion Branch, Elvis Dumervil and David Akers have become among the NFL’s best players. It will only be a matter of time before the next wave of these former Cardinals set their names in stone in the glory of Sunday football.
