If the NCAA allowed players to be traded between programs, who are the top 5 players that Louisville football would consider?

This is definitely an interesting topic to consider, since we all know it will never happen. However, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t room to speculate who the Cardinals would consider trading for. Louisville football is primed to have a great season, but there are definitely a few positions where the Cardinals could improve.

It doesn’t mean that you should be unsatisfied with the players Louisville has at each position right now. It only means that these five players would absolutely help the Cardinals take a step forward in 2016.

Louisville has had some big-time players walk into their program from other schools in recent history. BCS National Champion Michael Dyer transferred to Louisville a couple seasons ago. He saw some playing time under Bobby Petrino, but never returned to his freshman form from Auburn.

Current Louisville linebacker Devonte Fields transferred from Texas Christian University after some off-the-field situations. Fields has become an impact player for the Cardinals and has his eyes set on having a huge 2016. There is definitely room for debate, but is it within reason for Fields to compete for the ACC’s Defensive player of the year.

This article also doesn’t consider what players Louisville football would have to trade away. Each one of these five players are impact players in their respective programs, therefore it would take the Cardinals giving away some key pieces. At the end of the day, trading guys like Lamar Jackson and Devonte Fields would prove silly. However, these five players could be just as valuable to their programs.

These are the five players that we have identified as players Louisville should consider trading for. Yes, we know it’s entirely impossible, but it’s the offseason, therefore why not talk about?

You’re not going to see the Christian McCaffery’s or the Leonard Fournette’s on this list. You are going to see impact players, if the NCAA allowed players to be traded, that would make a big difference for the Cardinals.
