Louisville football: 15 players to watch in the Charlotte game
By Derek Snyder
The Senior cornerback is definitely a player that Lamar Jackson needs to be paying attention to in this matchup. A big part of the success in 2016 for Louisville will be their ability to not turn the football over. They struggled with that last year, but I expect that they will be better protectors of the football this season.
Winchester led the 49ers last season with four interceptions and came in third place on the team in total tackles with 41, according to Sports Reference.
This is what Charlotte Athletics had to say about Winchester:
"The 49ers all-time leader in career takeaways (9) and interceptions (7) … also holds single-season records for takeaways (6, 2015) and interceptions (4, 2015) … tied for first in C-USA in 2015 with 49ers single-season record 4 INTs … scored the 49ers first-ever FBS TD with a 43-yard fumble return in 23-20 victory in FBS debut at Georgia State … Earned a scholarship after originally joining the team as a walk-on in 2012."
Louisville needs to make sure they know where this guy is on the field. After last season’s turnover issues on offense, they should be able to avoid any problems with Winchester in this game at PJCS.
