Louisville football player James Quick has received a lot of heat over the last play of the Clemson game. See what his coach said to him after the game.

James Quick ran out of bounds one yard short in Louisville football’s loss to the Clemson Tigers a few weekends ago. He instantly received a ton of backlash on twitter that was completely uncalled for. He is a college football player who made the best effort he could in the moment. If that’s not enough for you, then you need to relax and move on.

Bobby Petrino on the other hand, showed everyone how the situation should have been handled when dealing with James Quick. It is one of the best things you will read all year.

Here is the excerpt from Steve Jones’ article from Louisville’s Courier-Journal:

"“I called him and talked to him,” Petrino said. “‘I said I wish you would have gotten the first down or the touchdown, and it didn’t happen. But the people that are going to criticize you or me or whoever else for throwing the ball or a (doing) a catch-and-run, because that’s what we had to do with the look they were in and that was the only option that we had, they’re the people who don’t know victory or defeat. So don’t worry about it. Just know that I love you and that you’ll come back and get another opportunity to make a play again and just compete as hard as you possibly can and do it.'”Petrino said he didn’t have a problem with Quick’s effort on the play.“He caught the ball, he had some room to make a move, and I don’t think it was an effort thing,” he said. “I’m not sure that he knew exactly where he needed to go.”"

Kudos to Bobby Petrino for handling this situation as well as anyone could have wanted for their own child. Expect James Quick to have a bounce-back performance against Duke on Friday.
