1st Team Defense: LB, Devonte Fields

I don’t want to be a hater, but I don’t believe Devonte Fields was deserving of being placed on the first team this year. He came into the season as a very popular pick to be the ACC’s defensive player of the year, but fell short of every expectation thrown his way.

I actually believe that he is still one of the Cards’ best NFL prospects, but there should be cause to pump the brakes because of his unproductive senior season under Todd Grantham.

With that being said, I am not saying that Fields doesn’t have the talent to be a 1st teamer, but what I am saying is that he didn’t play like it this season.

Actually, his fellow linebacker James Hearns deserved to be on the list.
