With the spring game coming up, now is the time to discuss what we should be looking to see in not only this game, but also throughout the entire season when it comes to Louisville football.

One important question that is on every Louisville fan’s mind, is how will the offense look with a guy not named Lamar Jackson under center? If history is any indicator, I’d say the offense is in pretty good hands.

But that’s likely not the only question you have as a Louisville football fan heading into Friday nights spring game.

What about the defense? Unfortunately, we all remember the debacle that was Louisville’s defense last season. It was so bad that it prompted Head Coach Bobby Petrino to let Peter Sirmon go and look for some sort of an upgrade. What can we expect from new defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder and his defense in their first year on the field? How does he go about replacing the entire secondary and super star Jaire Alexander? How do you get better at the fundamentals, specifically tackling? Is there more depth this year behind the starters? Will JUCO guys like Mike Boykin and Jared Goldwire be able to get it done up front?

An exciting aspect of the spring game every year is that it’s the fan’s first chance to see the newcomers, and also the first chance to get an idea of the depth chart. While the depth chart may certainly change before September 1st, it’s a great look at what the starting lineup could possibly look like.
