Louisville Basketball: Top 15 Players of the 2000’s: 7-4
#6 Montrezl Harrell (2012-2015)
Career Stats: 11.6 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1 bpg
There would be no “four threes and a dunk” without Montrezl Harrell. The dunk heard round the world referenced previously when mentioning Luke Hancock’s clutchness capped off the most amazing sequence in Louisville basketball history.
Montrezl Harrell left a lasting impact at Louisville because he has the most fearsome attitude and ridiculous motor of any player I can remember. Harrell was almost aggressive to a fault. He had no issue, even as a freshman on a team full of veterans, letting people know exactly what he thought. Harrell did it all in his career at Louisville. Rebounding, passing, developing a mid range game, and just all around hustling.
Oh yeah, and he dunked. Like, a lot. As in, 221 of them in 3 years. Not only did Harrell dunk, but he did so emphatically every single time. Every time.
Harrell makes the list at no. 6 for his ability, but also because of his impact. We saw his development throughout the course of his three seasons from a bench player who got in sparingly, to a guy who became nearly impossible to take off of the floor. He was a true leader and enforcer for the Cards, and his impact was felt in more ways than just dunks.
