Bobby Petrino and the Louisville football program received some encouraging news today, when an elite local recruit included them in his final five schools.
Bobby Petrino and the Louisville football staff have been on a bit of a recruiting roll over the last few weeks, securing commitments from three prospects, two of which are from either Louisville or a surrouding county.
First the Cards picked up a commitment from 3 star DE Kristan Varner from Hirman, GA, the same town that produced current Cardinal Jonathan Greenard. Just a few days later, in what was a highly anticipated announcement, the Cards won out again, this time landing Manual high school running back/athlete Aidan Robbins. Finally this past weekend, the Cards received a commitment from La Rue county outside linebacker Anthony Adkins.

There are still several elite local prospects that the Cards are pursuing, and have been for quite some time, one of them being Christian Academy of Louisville WR/TE Milton Wright. If you don’t know who Wright it is, I can guarantee you’re going to be finding out shortly.
The 6’3, 190 pound “athlete” has been one of the best players, if not the best, in the state of Kentucky since his sophomore season for Christian Academy, where he plays for former Cardinal great, Stefon LeFors.
Wright played a huge role in his sophomore season in getting Christian Academy to the state championship, where they would go on to win their first championship in school history. Since then, his recruitment has blown up, as he’s received offers from programs like Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, and Tennessee.
The Cards got great news today when CAL coach Stefon LeFors, and Recruiting Analyst for Rivals.com, Dave Lackford, tweeted out that the four star athlete had cut his list down to five. That list included Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State, Alabama, and Purdue.
The Cards will have their hands full in the race to land Milton Wright, but making the final five should provide a huge confidence builder for the Louisville staff. Wright was just on campus last weekend for the Cardinals camp, where all reports indicated that he was one of the top performers.
Wright has been lauded for his strong route running and ability to go up and get the ball. He has great elusiveness and has shown an ability to make big plays over and over again, even with defenses targeting in on him as a primary weapon.
There has been talk about Wright playing another position on the college level, with some sources saying he could play TE, or even make the switch to defense to play safety or linebacker. However, it seems at this point that he is set on playing wide receiver, which is where Louisville seems to be recruiting him.
Dave Lackford tweeted this morning that there is no timeline for a decision, so Bobby Petrino and his staff still have more work to do in order to secure the commitment of the best local prospect in the class of 2019.
From what I understand the biggest competition for Wright could be Alabama, where he recently visited over the weekend. Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm has also shown a lot of interest in the CAL product, and could be a player down the stretch as well to land Wright’s services.
