Dae Williams – RB

It’s no secret that the Louisville running backs weren’t very good on Saturday against Alabama. Combining for 16 yards, even against one of the best defensive lines in America, doesn’t cut it. It’s also no secret that Louisville has struggled to find stability at a position that is considered to be one of the staples of a true Bobby Petrino offense.

All summer we heard about the Cards offense being more balanced, and the running game being a big reason because of it. There’s a lot of talent at the position on the Louisville roster, but for what seems like the fifth year in a row, there’s not a running back stepping up to the challenge to become the “workhorse” back that is desperately needed.

After missing 6+ months of action due to a torn ACL, Dae Williams returned to the field against Florida State and quickly showed that he had the potential to be “the guy”  for Louisville. However, once Malik Williams returned from injury, the Cards continued to use all three running backs and Dae Williams never really got the chance to take that step forward.

Now after a rough outing in week one, Dae Williams is motivated once again to prove he can be the dominant running back that he was touted to be before his knee injury.

Along side of Colin Wilson, Jeremy Smith, Trey Smith, Hassan Hall and Jatavious Harris, Dae Williams will go into the Indiana State with a point to prove – he is the #1 back that can carry the Cards.

With the rain being a factor, I expect the Cards to pound the ball down the throat of the inferior defensive line of Indiana State. In my opinion Dae Williams should be the guy moving forward, and likely will prove that Saturday.
