Louisville Football: 5 Cardinal players to watch vs. Indiana State
By Jacob Lane
Tabarius Peterson – DE
If you’re looking for the guy who is going to have to take his game to another level with Greenard out on the defensive line, look no further than redshirt sophomore Tabarius Peterson.
Peterson got the nod as the starter opposite of Greenard against Alabama and finished with 3 tackles and was able to get some pressure on Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts. For Peterson to be named a starter this season after recording just 18 tackles as a redshirt freshman playing a minimal role, it means that the kid has serious talent.
Known as an elite pass rusher coming into Louisville, Bobby Petrino and Brian VanGorder expect Peterson to produce at a high level, which is why he’s my number one player to watch this weekend.
As defenses begin to focus on Peterson can he make the plays necessary to keep Louisville’s defense off the field? We’l find that out on Saturday against Indiana State.
The focus this week won’t so much be on the individual players as it will be on the team executing as a whole, but with injuries at the RB and DE spot, and a lack of production against Alabama, there are jobs up for grabs – meaning there will be heavy competition this weekend.
Though the game likely won’t be competitive by the middle of the second quarter, you best believe that Bobby Petrino, Brian VanGorder, and the rest of the staff will be watching for a crop of their players to rise to the next level and grab the spots that are available.
