Stock up, stock down for Louisville football after Indiana State
By Jacob Lane
In one of the weirdest games in Louisville football history, the Cards pulled out a 31-7 victory over Indiana State. Whose stock is up and whose is down heading into week three?
It’s Tuesday night and I’m still doing my best to get the water out of my shoes from Saturday evening. In one of the most frustrating/weirdly fun but bizarre nights at Cardinal Stadium, Louisville football escaped (yes, escaped) with a 31-7 victory over Indiana State.
Heading into the game we didn’t think it was possible to really find anything out about the Louisville Cardinals, seeing as how Indiana State went 0-11 last season and is considered to be near the bottom of the FCS power rankings. However, what we found out Saturday night, even in 4″ of rain is that the Cardinals have A LOT of issues that will have to be fixed fast as the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky come into CS this weekend.
There were some big performances on Saturday night, some surprising, some not, and a few players who mightily disappointed. When it rains like it did it’s really hard to take away a lot of positives, simply because a game plan is essentially scrapped and the team’s have to make things up on the run.
Thanks to backup QB Malik Cunningham, who was inserted in the second half, the Cards pulled away late and walked away victorious.
Let’s take a look at who’s stock is up and who’s stock is down heading into week three against Western Kentucky.
