Louisville basketball is on a roll in the 2019 recruiting class, but one player who has his sights set on the Cards still hasn’t received an offer from Chris Mack.

Quinn Slazinski’s recruitment has been a little different than that of your typical four star prospect.

The 6 foot 8 inch, 215 pound senior at Huntington Prep in Huntington, West Virginia hasn’t had some of the elite schools offer him a scholarship just yet.

But that hasn’t deterred the rising three-star recruit from Houston, Texas from taking some official visits to the “big-name” schools.

Slazinski visited Louisville on August 20th unofficially, and then took his official visit again on October 5th. Although the Cards haven’t offered him, he still lists them as one of his top 5 schools.

Although Louisville hasn’t offered, Slazinski is drawing some serious attention from the Cards. Head coach Chris Mack was present to watch him as recently as September 10th.

Slazinski is a lengthy small forward, but he has serious handles and shooting ability for his size and weight.

Although he could probably play power forward in Chris Mack’s system, his skill set could make him even more lethal at the three spot. He is a self-proclaimed “match up nightmare.”

So, if Slazinski could be such a valuable asset at Louisville, why haven’t Mack and staff offered yet? It could be the fact that the Cards are looking good with the rest of their top targets for the 2019 class.

Louisville already has hard verbal commitments from four stars Jaelyn Withers and Josh Nickleberry. They are also the favorites to land their biggest target Aiden Igiehon, local product and former commit David Johnson, and combo guard Jahmius Ramsey. Small forward Samuell Williamson will be in the thick of things late, and combo guard Rocket Watts- who has been leaning towards the Cards much more of late- will visit for “Louisville Live” along with Igiehon and others.

Slazinski is still sitting pretty though. One could ascertain that if Williamson ultimately commits to Kansas-who is the favorite for his services- the the Cards would pull the trigger on Slazinski.

One thing that sets him apart from many other recruits is that it seems Slazinski is almost making his own pitch to get an offer from Louisville. Many other players would be thrilled to have offers from schools like Xavier, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest. But Slazinski wants a larger name to offer a scholarship for his services.

Perhaps that is why Louisville and Michigan State still make his top five schools, and why Slazinski decided to use some of his official visits to schools that he is not even sure will offer him.

Rest assured, however, that if Louisville truly wants him, it is hard to imagine him going anywhere else.

Slazinski would fit into Chris Mack’s system perfectly, and his personality and willpower would make him a contender to contribute right away.

Mack and staff could offer soon. And if that were to happen, be on the look out for a commitment soon after.
