Stock up, stock down for Louisville football after Western Kentucky

Stock up – Dae Williams

Dae Williams is definitely trending upwards, and is finally moving towards the trajectory that he was on to finish the 2017 season.

Williams had 58 yards on only 9 carries, and scored Louisville’s only two touchdowns.

In a season where Bobby Petrino can’t seem to settle on a running back, Williams was the only one who could do everything he was called on to do. I’m not completely sold on Dae as the starter going forward just because Petrino has had such a short leash for every running back in the first three games.

With that said, Williams seems like the most likely to earn the featured back role going forward.

Stock up – Robert Hicks

I’m buying all of the stock on Robert Hicks. Hicks is one of the bright spots on this young defense, and finally got the chance to really show what he could do on Saturday.

Hicks led the team with 11 tackles, and was in on a sack as well.

The true freshman has been eased into action a little more than expected, but now that he is playing up to his potential it would be hard to imagine him not having a starting role and playing a significant amount of snaps going  forward.

Hicks is the type of guy that makes you excited about the future of Louisville’s defense. He is 6 foot 1, and 250 pounds, but gets down hill seemingly as fast as the smaller linebackers on the team. He stepped up at the right time against WKU, and he will be relied upon as the season goes on if the Cards want to get the defense on the right track.
