Louisville basketball looks to make a tournament run in 2018-19, and these are three of the line-ups that seem most likely to get them there.

First year Louisville Head Coach Chris Mack is exceeding expectations on the recruiting trail, but there is plenty to be excited about this season for the Cards.

Louisville may have the talent to make a deep run, but it remains to be seen how this team will click.

The Cards are on their third coach in as many years, so finding the right line-ups and the right match-ups will be key going into, and throughout the duration of the season. Let’s take a look at some potential starting line-ups, and what options they give the Cards.

The Veterans

1- Christen Cunningham

2-Khwan Fore

3- VJ King

4-Dwayne Sutton

5-Steven Enoch

This line-up is not the most likely to start, but could be the most likely to finish. If Chris Mack was worried and wanted to get in his most experienced players, this would be a good one.

Every player is at least a junior, and you have two graduate transfers manning the guard positions.

Strengths: Experience, toughness

Weaknesses: Defensively vulnerable

Stretch The Floor Line-Up

1- Darius Perry

2- Ryan McMahon

3- VJ King

4- Jordan Nwora

5- Malik Williams

Again, I’m not sure if this line-up would be the most likely to start, but they could see a lot of time together. This gives you a much smaller like-up obviously, but one that can shoot the lights out.

This could be Louisville’s version of the Hampton’s Five of Golden State Warriors fame where they go small, stretch the floor and create mismatches by getting slower defenders on the perimeter.

This line-up or one with Khwan Fore at a guard spot instead of McMahon or Perry could quickly become a fan favorite.

Strengths: Shooting, Speed, Creating Mis-matches

Weaknesses: Size, Rebounding

The Probable Starters

1- Christen Cunningham

2- Darius Perry

3- VJ King

4- Jordan Nwora

5- Steven Enoch

If I had to take a stab at the starters today, based off of the way Chris Mack likes to run his offense and defense, this seems like the most likely starting line-up.

Enoch is the big anchor in the middle. Cunningham is a steady presence at point guard who isn’t too flashy. Perry can play point, but he has a scorers mentality, and word is that his outside shot has improved dramatically.

King and Nwora are dangerous on the wings. Two wings that can absolutely fill it up, which is a Chris Mack staple. They are surrounded by excellent distributors, and have the potential to creat a lot of favorable match-ups.

Strengths: Balance, Maturity, Toughness, Rebounding

Weaknesses: Speed, Defensive Question Marks

Just like under Rick Pitino, Louisville won’t finish with the same line-up they started with often times.

That being said, it is fun to speculate how line-ups will turn out, and where the Cards can potentially be the most dangerous.

Basketball season is right around the corner, and the Cards open up practice in a little over a week.

The way things are trending, the Cards have a chance to shock the world in Chris Mack’s first year.
