After years of dark clouds and nervousness about the future, fans can finally enjoy Louisville Basketball again, as evidenced by the inaugural Louisville Live.

Excitement and hype seem to be at nearly an all time high, and it just feels awesome to be able to say that.

Momentum has been building around this Louisville basketball program since Chris Mack’s arrival in March. We are starting to see a culmination of all of the hard work that Mack and his staff have been putting in.

The recruiting ball has turned into a boulder, and it is rolling full speed down the side of a mountain where the rest of college basketball is standing.

A month ago, I said that Chris Mack was the lightning bolt that the students needed, that this program needed, and that we all needed.

Now, almost a year to the day after the FBI scandal broke, that fact could not be more true.

The first ever Louisville Live event happened last night, and it was absolutely unforgettable. I don’t know if I have ever been more proud of the student section, or the entire fan base.

Louisville Live was the perfect scene, came at the perfect time, and felt like something we should’ve always done. I’m not sure the University of Louisville has ever been more personable than it is right now. With the leadership of Dr. Bendapudi and AD Vince Tyra, they truly understand and care about the students, fans, and alumni.

With the open runs at the Little Yum practice facility, Louisville Live, and so many other great events that this University has hosted, fans and students have never been more connected or ‘in the loop’ with the athletes and the administration. There has been so many chances for fans (and especially the young Cards fans) to be up close and personal with their favorite athletes, and that’s so cool.

The set up was awesome, 4th Street Live was transformed into the Yum Center on the street. The lights, the flags, the fans in the balconies, was all better than I think we could’ve imagined.

This also happened, which was incredible.

Akoy Agau might have been the star of the night, which is impressive considering all of the stars that were there.

Then… The highlight of the night by far…

Mack is a straight savage. We saw how some of his antics payed off in big ways in creating an awesome culture at Xavier. It looks like he is trying to continue that trend now at Louisville.

If it wasn’t already blatantly obvious, Vince Tyra made the best possible hire hands down.

No other Coach in the country has more swag than Coach Mack. The man is pure swagger.

Oh, and we are kind of best friends now.

That’s our coach.

I would also like to thank everybody for the overwhelming support that we’ve been getting recently. We really feel like we are making a difference and we are working so hard to make the fans and alumni proud of their student section.

Like I said on 93.9 the other day, the criticism of the student section has been fair, we know that, and we’ve been listening. We’re gonna continue to work hard to make our student section the best in the country. A strong student section is best for the overall campus culture, recruiting, and game day atmosphere. We feel like we are getting there and last night was a big step in the right direction.

Shout out to the Ethan Moore and Nick Burch, as well as to Steve Rummage and Marques Maybin for letting me on their shows in the past few weeks. It has been an awesome experience, and we look forward to doing more for this fan base, the students, and the community as a whole in the near future.

It’s the start of a new era, and we couldn’t be more excited.

We do it all again today when Cards football take on Florida State at 3:30. Let’s make it 3 in a row against the Seminoles and turn this football season around.
