Louisville Football: Big Red Louie’s Game Predictions vs. Boston College
By Jacob Lane
Louisville football will head on the road to take on 4-2 Boston College. Can the Cards pull off the upset? We predict today’s game.
How many weeks can we say that Louisville football “must win?” We’re honestly probably past that as the Cards sit at 2-4 and 0-3 in ACC play. Postseason play is beginning to look more and more unlikely by the week, but a win against Boston College could potentially save the season or at least turn things around.
The players made it clear they aren’t quitting on the season, as did Louisville Head Coach Bobby Petrino, but just being all in won’t get the job done. Louisville is a team with some serious issues across both the offense, defense, and within the coaching staff. They are going to have to put together a nearly flawless game, similar to what we saw against Florida State through the first 2 1/2 quarters before the wheels came off.
There’s opportunity to take advantage of Boston College. The Golden Eagles, who have become known for their ability to be able to run the football, will be without star running back AJ Dillon for the second straight week. While Ben Glines has played well in relief of Dillon, the Cards can breathe a huge sigh of relief not having to go up against Dillon. After giving up 500+ yards of rushing offense last week, expect BC to try to duplicate the Georgia Tech game plan and feed Glines.
On the other side of the ball BC has a fairly mediocre defense, ranking 88th in total defense in the nation according to ESPN. The unit gives up an average of 232.5 yards per game, which means that Puma Pass and the Louisville running game could have an opportunity to get going. The key will no doubt be the performance of the offensive line. After allowing constant pressure up the middle last weekend, Zach Allen – Boston College’s star defensive end, will look to make his presence known.
It’s tough to be optimistic knowing how the last few weeks have gone, but our team at Big Red Louie has predictions. Check ’em out.

Lock: Louisville will have their best passing performance yet. Puma Pass is finally settling in, and Boston College has a propensity to give up the big play. I like Pass’s chances in this one.
Bold Prediction: Boston College rushes for 200 yards, with or without AJ Dillon. Louisville’s front seven is just depleted. They don’t have the guys to counter this rushing attack.
Score Prediction: Louisville 26, Boston College 28

Lock: I think we see the Cardinals offense continue to make progress and score some first half points.
Bold Prediction: We see both Puma hit a wide receiver for a 40+yard touchdown and Hassan Hall breaks off a monster run for a touchdown.
I think this will be a closer game than Vegas is thinking and the Cards keep it within one possession, but come up just short.
Score Prediction: Louisville 38, Boston College 44

Lock: Puma Pass gets the start, distributes the ball to his play makers and Hassan Hall and Tutu Atwell have big games.
Bold Prediction: The Louisville defense comes out ready to play after an embarrassing beat down from GT and holds BC to under 200 yards rushing.
Score Prediction: Upset! Louisville 31, Boston College 27

Lock: Louisville’s offense gets a favorable matchup against Boston College’s defense, and I really expect them to capitalize. I think the Cards play similar to how they did against FSU in the first half, and end up scoring upwards of 28 points.
Bold Prediction: Louisville is going to go all in on stopping the run as I would expect Steve Adazzio to try run the ball 30+ times today. However, I believe at the end of the day Boston College quarterback, Anthony Brown, is the game MVP and finishes with three touchdowns and 250+ yards.
Score Prediction: Louisville 31, Boston College 38
The Cards desperately need a win, there’s no doubt it, but going on the road and knocking off a solid Boston College team seems like a tall task.
If everyone is on the same page, something we haven’t seen much of, there’s a chance as this is still a very talented football team. However, if the team gets down early, as they did last weekend, don’t be shocked to see the wheels start to come off the bus.
Regardless, Go Cards!
